Releases September 14, 2010. Yay, another YA angel title!
Three angels are sent down to bring good to the world: Gabriel, the warrior; Ivy, the healer; and Bethany, a teenage girl who is the least experienced of the trio. But she is the most human, and when she is romantically drawn to a mortal boy, the angels fear she will not be strong enough to save anyone—especially herself—from the Dark Forces.
Is love a great enough power against evil?
Releases June 1, 2010. Autor’s site here. I love this cover. Has a very different style to it, I think.
This is the story of Amelia and Riley, bad kids from bad Brookfield High who have transferred to Ashbury High for their final year. They’ve been in love since they were fourteen, they go out dancing every night, and sleep through school all day. And Ashbury can’t get enough of them.
Everyone’s trying to get their attention; even teachers are dressing differently, trying to make their classes more interesting. Everyone wants to be cooler, tougher, funnier, hoping to be invited into their cool, self-contained world.
But they don’t know that all Amelia can think about is her past — an idyllic time before she ran away from home. Riley thinks he’s losing her to the past, maybe even to a place further back in time. He turns to the students of Ashbury for help, and things get much, much worse.
In the tradition of the gothic novel, this is a story about ghosts, secrets, madness, passion, locked doors, femmes fatales, and that terrifying moment in the final year of high school when you realise that the future’s come to get you.

Releases May 13, 2010. Author’s site here. LONG title. But an interesting topic nonetheless.
When KJ Carson is assigned to write a column for her school newspaper about the wolves in nearby Yellowstone National Park, she’s more interested in impressing Virgil Whitman, the new kid in school and the photographer assigned as her partner, than in investigative journalism. But before long, KJ has a face-to-face encounter with a wolf that changes her and the way she thinks about wolves. With her new found passion for protecting these controversial animals, KJ inadvertently ignites the fuse of the anti-wolf sentiment in the community. First Virgil is injured during a town parade, and then her father’s store is set on fire in retribution. To stop the escalating violence, KJ follows Virgil to the cattle ranch of the most outspoken anti-wolf activists in town, against her father’s will. What she discovers there threatens everything and everyone she cares about.
In KJ’s fierce and funny attempt to make peace between the wolves and the people that despise them, she must first face her own long-held fears. It’s terrifying, but then, finding yourself always is.

Releases July 12, 2010. Author’s site here. This strikes me as a historical setting YA novel, but the cover is pretty contemporary with the neon light wording.
When Will and Bet were four, tragic circumstances brought them to the same house, to be raised by a wealthy gentleman as brother and sister. Now sixteen, they’ve both enjoyed a privileged upbringing thus far. But not all is well in their household. Because she’s a girl, Bet’s world is contained within the walls of their grand home, her education limited to the rudiments of reading, writing, arithmetic, and sewing. Will’s world is much larger. He is allowed—forced, in his case—to go to school. Neither is happy. So Bet comes up with a plan and persuades Will to give it a try: They’ll switch places. She’ll go to school as Will. Will can live as he chooses. But once Bet gets to school, she soon realizes living as a boy is going to be much more difficult than she imagined.

My New Year’s resolution: I’m moving on from everything that’s happened. I’m not going to talk about it, think about it, let the memory pounce upon me like a waiting tiger, nothing.

All Sophie wants to do is forget. But it’s not easy now that everything’s changed. The house feels too big, school drags on for too long, lights are too bright, the room spins, and her hands get sweaty for no reason. And she can’t remember why she was ever best friends with Abigail, who is obsessed with parties and boys. Only the new girl, Rosa-Leigh, with her prose poems and utter confidence, might understand. But talking to her seems impossible.

WOW, those all look good.
The Angel book – I’ll admit, when I read the back cover blurb I immediately corrected in my mind, “No no no – MICHAEL is the warrior, GABRIEL is the messenger and RAPHAEL is the healer … wait, what?” LOL. Gabriel might not be the best name for an angel character if one is deviating from traditional angel mythology.
Is it possible to even stay away from the names Michael or Gabriel if an angel story is involved, whether they’re true to the Bible or not? :D I don’t think so lol.
Glad you see something you like here! Mai pimpin’ haz woorked.
Some of these look really good. I truly need to add more YA to my repertoire. Thanks for the heads up! :)
Oh girl, I need to add more of everything to my reading repertoire. More reading cowbell, period!
Initially I was thinking…’Hmmm, none of these are really ringing my bell’ (so to speak :) and then three jumped up and grabbed me, particularly Plain Kate! I can’t see the covers (GRRRR) ATM so I will try tonight (when I’m at home).
Mai pimpin’ haz woorked.‘
Yes, indeedy it has *grin* You the man! Or should that be woman?
A lot of these look really interesting, especially the ‘Ghosts of Ashbury High,’ ‘Painted Boy,’ and ‘Lost for Words’. I’ll admit, though, being totally suckered by the ‘Halo’ cover. Effin’ gorgeous.
ohmigosh HALO is serioulsy gorgeous. and the cover of The Education of Bet combined with the blurb is extraordinarily confusing and seemingly contradicting. *huffy sigh* do they expect us to do research to figure it out?!
Ohhh, wow. Wow. WOW. Halo is -stunningly- gorgeous. And I do love a good tale about angels, particularly female ones.
Way, way too often are angels used as a device for -males-, thanks to, of course, Michael and Gabriel. This sounds promising!
