Double Cover Vision: Chasing Brooklyn and Saving Max

It’s been a loooong time since I’ve bothered to post on books using the same cover. Maybe I just don’t tend to notice it, but while perusing NetGalley this morning I did notice a new YA-ish sounding/looking title and cover called Saving Max by Antoinette van Heugten, which will be published October 10, 2010 (and turns out it’s actually an adult thriller novel). The cover was pretty striking, and that’s not because of Saving Max. I knew I’d seen it somewhere else and it turns out that it is the cover for the already published Chasing Brooklyn by Lisa Schroeder (which looks to have gotten fab reviews, BTW). Harlequin’s Mira imprint is publishing Saving Max, and the image is simply flipped/mirrored on their version. Maybe a new cover for Saving Max would be in order…

Have you encountered any instances lately of double cover vision?

I think they need a new cover. I also really loved Chasing Brooklyn. Great blog!

Thanks, Cari! :) Fortunately Saving Max has a while till it’s published. Maybe they’ll realize the double cover and be able to fix it.

I’m sure I have alas my memory isn’t what it used to be ;)

I have noticed cover ‘trends’ is it just me or do all UF female covers have girls with awesomely defined biceps and midriff tops?

KC, my heroine is all covered up — no tramp stamps, midriff tops, etc, etc. Instead, she’s in a trench coat, turtleneck, and some kick-ass combat boots. *g*

On topic, I did have a case of “double cover vision” relatively recently.

FLU (Simmons) vs. 33 A.D. (McAfee)

It’s unfortunate. Both look like interesting books, but it’d be easy to get them confused when they have that same cover.

    Hello everyone,
I just wanted to confirm that my novel, SAVING MAX, definitely has a new cover! The prior cover was simply a concept and, once it was discovered that it had been used by another author, it was changed immediately. Please check out the novel and new cover when it comes out in September!
Many thanks for your interest and comments.
    Best,
    Antoinette van Heugten
