One by one they go missing. And in the lake a voice cries out: “Save them. . . .”
In the darkness, in a lake in the middle of a prosperous college town, Rachel Matre feels the water caressing her bare skin, teasing her senses, drawing her body into a lush erotic embrace. For twenty years she has communed with the lake spirits this way—and told no one. The price is simple: She must help those in need.
But now a series of young women have gone missing. The police don’t have any bodies, or even a single suspect. Only the spirits seem to sense the truth. Through them, Rachel finds herself drawn into a madman’s web. She alone can save the missing women. But who can save her?

I am very interested in this one. Jane Yolen was one of my most favorite authors as a kid, and I read White Jenna almost till it fell apart. And the Pit Dragon series! You can visit the author’s sites here and here. Releases February 2, 2010.
From award winning authors Jane Yolen and Midori Snyder comes a tale of two worlds-and one destiny…
Sisters Serena and Meteora were once proud members of the high court of the Fairy Queen- until they played a prank that angered her highness. Separated and banished to the mortal realm of Earth, they must find a way to survive in a strange world in which they have no power. But there is more to their new home than they first suspect…
A sympathetic Meteora bonds with a troubled young girl with an ornate tattoo on her neck. Meteora recognizes it as a magic symbol that will surely bring danger down on them all. Serena, meanwhile, takes in a tortured homeless boy whose mind is plagued by dark visions. The signs point to a rising power that threatens to tear asunder both fairy and human worlds.
And the sisters realize that perhaps the queen cast them from their homes not out of anger or spite- but because they were the only ones who could do what must be done…

Releases February 16, 2010. This is book 2 in a series. The first is Dragon in Chains. Visit the author’s site here.
In this soaring epic, Daniel Fox weaves the ancient myths and legends of feudal China into a fantasy world of brutal war and brittle passion, immortal gods and mystical creatures.
With the long-chained dragon now free and the rebels’ invasion smashed by her exultant fury, the balance of power has changed. Young emperor Chien Hua is no longer struggling for survival; now he is ambitious to strike back. As treacherous General Ping Wen whispers in the emperor’s ear, not even Chien Hua’s beloved concubine or his most trusted bodyguard can reason with him. Worse, prolonged exposure to magical jade is changing him radically: His increasingly godlike powers are making him dangerously rash.
But with the dragon patrolling the skies above and the strait beneath, the emperor’s forces have no hope of launching a counterattack—until a goddess moves to interfere. Yet neither the clash of armies nor the opposing wills of goddess and dragon can decide ultimate victory or defeat. The fate of the war lies in the blood-deep bonds between the dragon and the boy Han, her jailer and her liberator—and in the prices both will pay for their freedom.

I couldn’t find a blurb for this one yet, but as the McGrath covers are so standout, it would be ludicrous no to at least point it out for folks to keep an eye out for. The author has written past books witht he word Daemon in the titles, so I guess it’s possible this one is a shoot-off or part of a series. Releases May 4, 2010.

Dude. I am cracking up at this:
“Olivia, vampire and fallen angel of desire”
this has got to be one of the cheesiest lines ever. *g*
Having said that , some interesting covers there!
Well of course lol! Because that’s what angels are all about – lust and…well, lust. :D
WOW, some of those covers really take your breath away – I am a total cover hog, if it does not “look” good I cant buy it! :)
I do so love my books to come with beautiful covers too! It certainly doesn’t hurt. :)
Hi :)
Thank you for the excellent post.
I really enjoyed seeing all those beautiful covers.
I hope you have a wonderful week and a Happy Thanksgiving.
All the best,
RKCharron
xoxo
You have a great Thanksgiving as well!
Some lovely covers there.
I love Jane Yolen, and I’ve enjoyed the Midori Snyder I’ve read as well, so that one sounds like a sure read.
Kim Wilkins is an Australian author and I know I’ve seen Veil of Gold around this part of the world. It sounds like this is probably the US release.
Thanks, Kerry. I was pulling my figurative hair out trying to figure out the Wilkins book lol.
Cover love! These are just beautiful KMont. Now all I have to do is read the blurbs, lol! JK… I MUST get to Naamah’s Kiss before the next book releases, it’s still sitting on my TBR pile too. :(
Heeeey, maybe we ought to do a Naamah’s Kiss “race to The End”. :D
I’m pretty sure you would win tho!
I absolutely CANNOT WAIT for the Jane Yolen/Midori Snyder team-up. :) Thanks for the great post – I didn’t know about this one… How could I not know??
Also, the Camille Bacon-Smith looks to be the long awaited sequel to this:
http://www.fantasticfiction.co.uk/b/camille-bacon-smith/daemon-eyes.htm
which kinda has a cult following, and was actually an omnibus of two earlier books.
Thanks, Karen! Cult following, you say? Hmm, might be a good idea to check the previous books out then.
Oh god these covers make me itch to go to Amazon and start clicking “add to cart.” Must resist *struggles against invisible force* …2010 is going to be an expensive book year. Perhaps I should use my pitiful 401k hmmmm?
Well, that post certainly didn’t help my TBR list! I’m a totally superficial reader and book covers are probably half the reason I’ll buy a book! Great post.
LOVE those covers! some of the blurbs sound good too ;)
What a great list of books, some fantastic covers there – a few more to add to my tbr! :)
Great roundup and many new to me. The Kim Wilkins is indeed a reprint and was released by Tor in HC in 2008.
